Senior Plant Engineer

Job Purpose
The main purpose of this position is the planning, coordination and overseeing of activities concerned with construction, modification, new installations and maintenance of equipment, machinery and facilities in order to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity of this manufacturing plant.

Qualifications
Diploma or degree in mechanical Engineering or appropriate qualification in engineering.
Qualification in Project Management.
Knowledge of PLC systems will be an advantage to the applicant.

Experience required

Minimum 5 years’ experience in workshop management in a food manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in plant engineering and maintenance.
Experience in electrical systems.
Workable knowledge of Computer – Inventor, MS Word, MS Projects, Excel and INTACCT.
Knowledge of Health and Safety relevant to workshop practice.
Experience in HACCP and FSSC quality systems.

Core responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the effective running of the plant by implementing, overseeing and coordinating a proper preventative mechanical and electrical maintenance plan. The plan must also include upgrade of existing equipment to improve efficiency.
  2. Management and technical guidance of mechanical and electrical teams to ensure effective running of the facility and standby personnel.
  3. Establishes standards and policies of installation, modification, quality control, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, according to engineering principles and safety regulations.
  4. Directs and ensure maintenance of buildings and premises.
  5. Management and planning of engineering projects.
  6. Manage the health and safety of the department according to policies and procedures.
