Wine Lees

Wine lees is the sediment left behind after racking of grape juice or wine. It contains spent yeast, tartrates and alcohol.
Our wine lees plant in Worcester handles the wine lees services. This includes collection and transport arrangements and responsible processing of the wine lees.
The IPW (Integrated Production of Wine) environmental sustainability scheme requires that spent filtration material, bentonite lees and wine lees should be made available for the recovery of alcohol or tartaric acid where possible to prevent soil and water pollution. By using Brenn-O-Kem’s service, wineries ensure that this requirement is met while both parties gain value and benefit from the collaboration.
